Cooling and heating in one
Heat Pump Services in Brookhaven, GA
Repairs, replacements and new installs for heat pumps, so one system keeps the house comfortable all year.
Summer and Winter From the Same Box
From the yard, a heat pump could pass for any condenser, yet it moves heat in either direction. During July it pushes indoor heat outside, and once the weather turns it flips and draws warmth inward from the outdoor air. That suits a place with drawn-out sticky summers and short, gentle winters, and it also means more parts have to cooperate. A reversing valve switches between modes, a defrost control clears frost from the outdoor coil, and backup or auxiliary heat strips step in when the temperature drops hard. Some owners pair theirs with a gas furnace so that the furnace handles the bitterest nights. Plenty of calls we get are not failures at all. Steam rising from the outdoor unit on a cold morning is a normal defrost cycle. A unit that runs for long stretches in winter is often doing exactly what it should. When something is wrong, though, such as a reversing valve stuck in one mode, a defrost board that never ends the cycle or backup heat running all the time, we test, explain and repair it. When a heat pump has reached the end of its useful life, we size the replacement to the house and its ducts and look at whether a hybrid setup would serve you better.
Heat Pump Problems We Take On
Anything from one bad component up to a complete new system, here is the heat pump work our crew handles.
Not heating or not cooling
Reversing valves, solenoids and controls tested whenever the system will only do one job.
Defrost problems
Defrost boards, sensors and coils tested when ice builds up and does not clear.
Backup heat running too often
Thermostat settings, outdoor sensors and heat strips checked so auxiliary heat runs only when needed.
Hybrid gas pairings
A heat pump teamed with a gas furnace, with the hand-off temperature set for your house.
Refrigerant and electrical
Leaks, capacitors, contactors and fan motors handled the same careful way as on any AC.
Replacement and installation
New heat pumps fitted to the home's load, paired with the right indoor section and fully tested at startup.
Efficiency ratings explained
SEER2 for cooling and HSPF2 for heating, put in context with ducts and installation quality.
How Heat Pump Service Goes
Talk through the behavior
Tell us what mode the unit is in, what you see outside and how the house feels. Some of what worries people is normal, and we will say so.
Test both modes
We run the equipment through both seasons' modes while pressures, temperatures, defrost and backup heat are checked. You get the findings and the price.
Repair or replace, then verify
After the repair or installation, both modes are tested again so you know the system is ready for summer and winter.
What Heat Pump Owners Appreciate
Normal versus broken
We tell you when a defrost cycle is just a defrost cycle, so you do not pay for repairs you do not need.
Both seasons tested
A heat pump fixed for cooling should also heat. We check each mode before leaving.
Honest dual-fuel advice
Dual fuel fits some homes and not others. We explain where yours lands.
- Heating and cooling tested
